A little jewel. Upright, flaring tubes grow in clusters with red leaves, splashed with green flecks and light banding on reverse. The oversize, deep bluish-purple, fragrant flowers are stunning. A rare form. Terrarium suitable.

Neoregelia laevis (BAB 235)

A somewhat variable species that is not widely cultivated, but definitely has merit. A medium sized plant that can reach about 24 inches across with inch and a half wide leaves that bear deep purple, apiculate tips, rimmed in pink. The color is dependent on light intensity, but in bright shade, it is yellowish and pinkish at the same time, rather unusual.

Neoregelia martinellii (Green)
2194
A small upright, stoloniferous species who’s chief value is as a botanical because it lacks many decorative qualities. However, I and many others feel that a species plant doesn't have to be beautiful to be appreciated, and that little plants like this have their own charm. Makes a decorative cluster, good for hanging pot culture.
