My bromeliad was beautiful as described. I have purchased many broms from Tropiflora and highly recommend them.
Aechmea magdalenae 'Quadricolor'
1642
A large growing terrestrial species that is found from Mexico to Colombia and Ecuador. A giant grower in nature, to over six feet tall, the variety quadricolor has been cultivated as a pot plant for years and is kept much smaller. Still though with a large pot and good fertilization the plants can reach about 4 feet across. The spectacularly variegated form has a broad yellowish white stripe up the center of the leaves. The leaves bear large but well spaced spines on the margins and the leaves are broad and glossy. This variegated form was originally brought into cultivation by Mulford Foster from a Mexican garden, but the exact origins are unknown. Easy to grow in normal bromeliad soil and an 8-inch pot or larger for best results.
Aechmea nudicaulis v. capitata BAB230

A nice form of this variable species which was collected by Berg and Anderson in Brazil. This form has stiff leaves, an upright, tubular shape, and the classic ’thumb-print’. The leaves are gray-green with silvery bands and the inflorescence is a compact cone with yellow flowers and bright red bracts.

The inflorescence bears lavender flowers. A large grower for recurvata, reaching 12 inches tall. Full sun tolerant and fairly cold hardy too, a great landscape plant.

x Hohenmea ‘Betsy McCrory’
6691
xHohenmea 'Betsy McCory' is an unusual bigeneric most likely from Chester Skotak. Fairly large and upright, it can reach well over three feet tall. An attractive plant, definitely blending the attributes of both parents. The foliage is stiff, upright, silvery and somewhat banded. The inflorescence is more like that of the Hohenbergia, having many branches, coated with cottony scurf. Great for landscape or a nice patio accent.

A handsome plant, sturdy and striking in appearance with a red tinged foliage. Hohenbergia used to be Aechmea. Now we have two close genera crossed. The bigeneric result is not surprising and I am impressed with the cross. I just want to see whether its bloom is more like a Hohenbergia or an Aechmea.
