A Ray Coleman cross of (gigas x ‘Tingua’) that is a large growing plant reaching 20 inches tall and 45 inches across with 3 inch wide leaves. In strong light the leaves are rich, rusty brown with some dark red speckling. No significant color change at anthesis. Flowers are blue. Useful in landscape as it is a large grower with a tolerance for sun and harsh conditions.

A miniature hybrid by Lisa Vinzant. Grows to a average of 7 inches across. Light green with bright white variegation on the edges of the leaves. As the plant matures it develops a red veneer. Looks best in a hanging pot. Prefers bright filtered light.

Neoregelia 'Extraordinaire'

A hybrid of Neoregelia ‘Bobby Dazzler’ x johannis ‘DeRolf’ by Ray Coleman that is a wide-leaved, full rosette to about 25 inches across and 16 to 18 inches tall. Four inch wide leaves are dark magenta red all over with many small green spots and specks and red leaf tips margined with black spines. Leaf undersides are dull gray. Center flush at anthesis is red, but blends in with the already red leaves. Best in bright light out of direct sun. A choice specimen for patio or landscape and new for collectors as well.

A variegated clone of Neoregelia cruenta ‘Sun King’ that was found in the beachside restinga of Rio de Janeiro. A beautiful stiff-leaved upright wide-leaved rosette with red-tipped green leaves, turning yellow in strong light, with yellowish variegation. A real stunner and still on the rare side.

Neoregelia ‘Hannibal Lecter‘ An unusual, very decorative hybrid from Chester Skotak, with a name that reflects his famed, warped wit. Three clones exist, all selections of a grex resulting from the cross of Neo. punctatissima x carcharodon ‘Tiger’. In general, the plants are medium sized, to about 24 inches across, very stiff leaved with stout spines, and boldly banded with reddish-brown over green.

A Ray Coleman cultivar from the same grex that produced ‘Unseasonably Hot‘ though it doesn’t look anything like it. This plant is a beauty in a full rosette of glossy, yellow tinted green leaves that have a reddish wash and a veneer of red spots and flecks overall. The leaf tips are apiculate and red. Moderate spines on the margins of the 1.5 inch wide leaves. A choice plant!
