In the advanced juvenile stage, this cultivar has star-like, plain silvery grey-green, prickly leaves with sharp pointed tips. At blooming, it produces a flat, bright salmon red, pin cushion-like inflorescence with an inner corolla of yellow leaves, extending outwards to fiery orange sections and outer leaves turn burnished maroon.
