The plant is green in color and turning more bronze-red in good light conditions, attaining a size from 6 to 15 inches in diameter. The shiny glabrous leaves have crisped, undulating leaf edges that are adorned with outward-facing red spines. The underside of the leaves are covered with a light coating of trichomes with leaf impressions. This plant is best grown in a hanging basket as it produces its offsets after flowering on long stolons.
