From the vicinity of Municipio de Grao Mogol, in northern Minas Gerais, Brazil. A smallish species with secund leaves bearing very large marginal spines. The color silvery green to whitish with new growth being bright green. Sun exposure can cause the leaves to tint reddish or dark brownish-red. The inflorescence reaches about three feet tall and is simple, brownish-silver with flowers bearing green petals. The habit is clustering with short rhizomes. Grows in dry, rocky cerrado vegetation.

A medium size growing Dyckia by Bill Baker. This plant has broad leaves tapering to a point, curving slightly downward in a graceful rosette to about 10 inches across. The color is dark green with heavy white scurf, almost white in strong light with bold-white triangular spines set one against the next along the leaf margins. Grows best in bright filtered light to full sun. If you want to grow in the full sun makes sure it is watered on a regular basis.

Great plant. the only problem is that in order to get the brom to show red is to put it in direct sun, BUT this is tricky. Too much sun, they burn, too little sun they turn green.

Stephania suberosa is a caudex forming shrub from Cambodia and Thailand. The caudex has a rough skin reminding some of a turtles shell. The foliage is a vine with heart shaped leaves. Grows best in a well draining soil and doesn't like it's soil to stay wet.

The largest form, native to the desert valleys of central Ecuador. Often found growing as a saxicole or on cacti, this form differs from the typical in being much larger, with a bulbous base that can reach three inches in diameter and strictly upright, fine reddish-brown leaves. The inflorescence is longer, exceeding the foliage by several inches, branched and producing many yellow flowers which have a mild fragrance. An easy species to cultivate. Grows into a nice slightly stoloniferous cluster and does well mounted or potted in a very loose, well-drained media.
