A new Chester Skotak release for 2012 of [(carolinae variegated x Hannibal Lecter) x Tiger Cub] x Punctate Red. A nice little hybrid, dark colored, dark green with narrow variegation, almost striation. Heavily spotted and banded with dark red. Mature size is about 6 inches tall and 10 inches across, with inch and a half wide leaves.

A bigeneric hybrid that was made at Tropiflora. A medium size plant with a rosette of few leaves. Silver grey trichomes cover the leaves. The is a hint of burgundy at the leaf axils. The recurving leaves have large spines along the edges. The plants we have are grown from seedlings and have slight variations from each other.

We discovered this natural hybrid in the greenhouse where our flexuosas grow, directly alongside our streptophyllas. A giant grower (flexuosa 'Giant Form' x streptophylla) named for its huge size and regal appearance. Mature plants measure 2 ft wide and 3 ft tall. The inflorescence is a single spike with multiple branches and a dark dusky pink with purple blooms. Spectacular.

A cultivar of the hybrid marnier-lapostollei x glomerata by Sally Marz. Hechtia hybrids are fairly unusual. This plant, according to the late Dutch Vandeervort is a "A robust version of marnier-lapostollei" - leaves to about 12 inches and was a favorite of his with many gracing his Ventura, California garden. Many narrow, somewhat soft, spiny green leaves dusted with silver. A handsome plant and easy to grow.

This beautiful species is native to only a couple of isolated canyons in central Honduras. A large upright grower to over 30 inches, with stiff, greenish leaves and an inflorescence of long pink, upright, terete branches.
In nature it lives at the base of cliffs, supporting itself against rocks and other plants. In cultivation it can be kept bare root, mounted or may be potted in a well drained media.

A climbing epiphyte native to Cuba. Stems are spineless and swollen, which lends to it's common nickname of 'Sausage Cactus'. New growth appears as 'links' and the plant spreads out as well as up.
