A vigorous epiphyte from the Atlantic Rainforest of Southeastern Brazil. Somewhat stoloniferous, it forms upright vase shaped rosettes of light green leaves that are dark brown to black on the base, a very striking appearance. A tall, branched inflorescence is red, with red bracts and bright yellow flowers, though this species is a reluctant bloomer. Does well mounted, potted, in a basket or a terrarium.
