A plant of the cool forests of the Andes in Ecuador and Peru. Not a soft leaved plant, but fairly stiff and gray- silver. The very long lasting inflorescence is very showy, pendant, multi-branched and bright yellow. An epiphyte in moist to wet forests, often on exposed trunks of palms and solitary trees in forest remnants. Not difficult, but not a beginner plant. Needs pure water above all but cooler night temperatures are a definite benefit. Can be grown potted in a loose media, sphagnum moss or as an epiphyte.
