The leaves are 2.5 inches wide in a rosette about 24 inches across with yellowish or creamy variegation, and suffused with tiny red speckles.
In good light the plant develops a bright red veneer overall. The leaves are stiff with many sharp spines. At anthesis the cup flushes red.
