A beauty from the Chapada Diamantina area of Bahia, Brazil. A handsome plant with wide and stiff leathery leaves bearing large marginal spines in a compact bottle shape. The color is grayish-silver over dark green, with some brown mottling, becoming darker with age. Culture affects size, and the plant can vary from 18 to almost 24 inches tall and about as wide. Offsets are silvery and the plant matures more of a green color. Growing 'hard', in bright light and limited fertilizer, makes a very compact and showy, more silvery plant.
