A beautifully silvery large species with rather succulent leaves that tend to curve downward or in a spiral rosette shape. Marginal spines are large and widely spaced and add a decorative, if lethal, appearance. This species has the designation of ‘km 85’ which refers to the locality in Oaxaca where it was found so we keep this on the labels for reference. A good hardy plant for an outdoor rockery in frost free areas.
