The leaves are heavily spined, but not as much as some species, and the leaves pale green that blushes pink in the full sun. A stoloniferous species, a rare trait in Hechtia. The inflorescence is about 24 inches tall with many branches and bears small, white flowers, the female flowers with red ovaries.
