A lively colored small plant, light green with deep reddish brown blotches that form bands or ‘tiger stripes’ on the upper and undersides of the leaves. The leaves are fairly stiff in a spreading, funnel form rosette, over an inch wide, and somewhat channeled. A really good looking, compact, colorful, robust plant.

An as yet unnamed cross of Neoregelia ‘Rio Ocher’ x olens ‘Vulcan’ is an apple green plant with a vivid red center flush at anthesis. The inch and a half wide leaves are somewhat thick and leathery and the marginal spines are small. It develops some red cross-banding on the leaves which become more pronounced with strong light or when grown “harder”. Offsets are on short stolons and the plant is good for mounting and for terrarium use.

This Chester Skotak hybrid (cross not yet reported) is a Neo. ‘Hannibal Lecter’- like plant in size, shape and pattern. The leaves start out green but with age and good light develop a yellowish tinge. The leaves are heavily marked with red banding in the typical Tiger pattern and the leaf edges have moderate spines. Beautiful, glossy foliage, a winner!
