The 'String of Hearts' or 'Rosary Vine' is a rock dwelling succulent vine of southern Africa that has been a favorite of plant lovers for over a hundred years. A rather dainty vine that hangs limp over the edge of a hanging pot with many half inch, heart shaped succulent leaves in opposite pairs along the stem. The leaves are green to pinkish above and purple below with a silvery-gray pattern on top. Flowers are unusual, somewhat tubular, pink and purple, with the petals fused together in cage fashion at the top and are borne in summer all along the stem. Actually cultivated by many as a caudiciform due to its biscuit like subterranean caudex. Easy care in bright light, water when dry.
