Unknown as to where this plant originally come from. Named by Bill Baker, so it is possible that it is a species.  A very leafy and of course stiff and wickedly spiny rosette with leaves that taper to a long, narrow point and large hooked spines.  Depending on growing conditions, the plant can reach 24 inches across and color in bright light to full sun is red and has a layer of white scurf on the underside of the leaves the extends out to the spines.
