An attractive and fairly large growing tank-type epiphytic Vriesea from Brazil. The foliage is light green, tipped with dark brown ‘fingernails’. The inflorescence is very tall, to 5 feet or so, with many bright red branches and bracts and yellow flowers, a real show that lasts for months. This species is fairly cold hardy and often requires a chill to come into bloom.
