A rootless plant, it grows on a long stem which can reach several feet in length, with six inch long, rather wide and stiff silvery leaves. In nature it lays among the boulders at the base of towering cliffs in hot, dry conditions. Its rose colored spike may be simple or branched. In cultivation it enjoys bright filtered light and good air circulation. Grows well in an empty wooden basket or suspended from a hanger.
