A relatively new species from southern southeast Brazil. Resembles R. burchellii in fruit and R. campos-portoana in flower, this species grows within the vicinity of both species but is not considered a hybrid of either. This species has thicker stems and branches more freely than R. burchellii. The pendulous stems will usually not flower until reaching a length of 6-7 feet. When it does bloom the flowers are white, followed by purplish fruits that are strongly scented like black currant.
