A cute, rare, miniature, stoloniferous, clump-forming species from Brazil. As you can see from the photo makes an outstanding specimen, forming large ball-like clusters in a relatively short time. After blooming, the plants persist for a long time, thus making the clump appear fuller. The plants individually are only about 3 to 4in tall, with bronzy-green leaves, dark towards the base, lightly banded below, with slight purple tips. Flowers are purple.
A rare species that has been misidentified in collections. As far as we are aware, this may be only true example of this species in cultivation, at least in the U.S. Ours originated in the reference collection of Elton Leme, a well-known taxonomist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
