THIS PLANT IS ON C.I.T.E.S. AND CANNOT BE EXPORTED

Different than ‘typical form’in that it’s three or four-angled stems grow in a spiral habit. The stems are wide, about a half inch or more, and vary from light to dark green or pinkish in strong light. The aeroles have tufts of white hairs and produce multiple white flowers, followed by red fruits. A very interesting and uncommon form of the species. As a species, cruciforme is epiphytic to lithophytic from eastern Brazil, south to Paraguay, but it is not known from exactly where this spiral form comes. Growing in brighter light will cause the plant to make tighter spirals!
