Found as a sport of a plant collected by Robert Kautsky in Espírito Santo, Brazil, this cultivar of what possibly may be the species beuckeri or a within a related complex has petioled lanceolate, spoon-shaped, leaves. The dull green leaves become marmorated with red as they mature. The coloring is redder in low light, and more orange-red, “rusty,” in brighter light. The leaves are edged with definite spines, almost eyelash-like in appearance, and are lightly covered underneath with a lineated scurf.
