Formerly known as Hohenbergia disjuncta, this taxa was reassigned to Aechmea by Jose Alves Siquiera Filho and Elton MC Leme in 2007. A loosely tubular plant with leaves up to 3 feet long, and fairly long stolons. The inflorescence is similar to that of Aechmea bambusoides, a long scape with clusters of short branches spaced several inches apart with yellow flowers and pink bracts. Grows well mounted, potted, or in a hanging basket.
