A beautifully variegated form of this interesting species that is best noted for its shape, an upright and spreading bulbous based rosette to over 30 inches across, with stiff leaves and large spines. The plant takes on a deep reddish hue in full sun with bold creamy to pinkish variegation. The inflorescence is a tall panicle of red bracts and black berry-like fruit. Native from southern Mexico to northern South America where it grows in various locations from sandy beaches to cliffs and epiphytically in open forests. An easy to grow species great for landscape use in high light areas in frost free zones.
