An especially cute little hybrid by Paul Isley. A cultivar of Tillandsia pueblensis x ionantha. Like most Tillandisa hybrids with ionantha, it tends to favor that species. However, it does have a good resemblance to the pueblensis parent with longer, thicker leaves. The overall shape is upright with a long stem and three inch, deeply channeled leaves tapering to a point growing upright along the stem. The color is deep green dusted with abundant silvery trichomes.
The inflorescence, deep rose in color, is a short, upright, scape rising slightly above the foliage. Flowers are deep blue. Forms clusters and will tint slightly in bright light but does not blush when blooming. A great little plant.

Tillandsia 'Redy' (streptophylla x concolor) acquired from Paul Isley. A large, colorful blooming Tillandsia that was named to honor Rainforest Flora retail nursery manager, Redy Bond. This is a stunning hybrid that was originally made by Dr. Mark Dimmitt. The numerous leaves often form a circular, windmill pattern. A real “stunner” as the Aussies would say.

A Mexican form of ionantha with the same unique characteristics as the more familiar ‘Zebrina’; that of having even breaks in the trichomes, forming a decorative banded pattern. The ‘Zebrina’ looks to be a Guatemalan form of ionantha, differing only slightly from this form. The Mexican form differs mainly in blushing much brighter red at anthesis. We found this plant when splitting a group of Mexican ionanthas quite some years ago and have propagated them since. The name is inspired by the Zebra painted donkeys used by street photographers in Tijuana.
Always the best from Tropiflora.

A rare, smaller relative of Tillandsia fasciculata from Jamaica, although our specimen sourced from the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (SEL 1986-0480) came from the Dominican Republic via Luis Ariza-Julia. It is unknown where he got the plant. Very narrow, silvery-gray leaves in an upright rosette to about 7 to 8 inches with a multi-branched inflorescence of bright red with light blue flowers. A very attractive, rare, small species.

A robust plant similar to T. aeranthos, but with wider, stiffer, reddish leaves in a more open rosette shape. The scape is nodding, slightly longer than the foliage with white-tipped rose-red bracts and open cerulean blue flowers. Native to the area of the Riozinho region of Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil. Very attractive, clump forming, somewhat cold hardy and easy to grow.
The plant looked great and has done well since. Shipping and packaging was quick and excellent, thank you!
