A lithophytic form of this variable and widespread species. Growing on exposed cliff faces near Totolapan, Oaxaca, Mexico, they form dense clusters of plant. The leaves are stiff and coated with a heavy layer of silvery trichomes. Unlike some similar species, the leaves are straight, not secund. The inflorescence is tall, a straight simple spike of red bearing tubular yellow flowers. Grows best mounted or hung from a string in bright, breezy condition so they will dry quickly after watering. An easy and prolific plant to grow.

An interesting plant with long, stiff leaves along a caulescent stem, silvery green in color, clump forming. The inflorescence is a thin scape no higher than the foliage, with large flowers of deep rose red that are tubular with flaring petals that recurve at the tips. A tall-growing form of this species of northern and central Peru where it lives as an epiphyte in thorn forests of the arid foothills in the eastern Andes. Many variations, forms and cultivars have been selected from this species that long been popular with hobbyists.

This form has broad, curling, silvery leaves the grow in a longer cluster. The inflorescence is about 18 to 24 inches tall, above the foliage, and is topped with a cluster of pinkish-lavender branches. In nature this plant grows in mostly full sun in an arid climate, receiving most of its moisture from nightly fogs. For best results keep in a bright and airy location.

Somewhat resembles a Tillandsia brachycaulos in size and shape but less leafy. Leaves are somewhat stiff, shiny, and gray/green. The entire plant flushes pink or peach when in bloom, with a short scape. An epiphyte on shrubby trees in the scorching valleys of central Honduras. Definitely something different. Easy to grow.

This is a spectacular collector item with a great shape and beautiful color. Widely spreading rosettes of deep-red leathery leaves bear an inflorescence of bright yellow with a capitate head and long scape bracts.

Few Tillandsias are more striking when in bloom. Best in bright light, in a fast draining media. Can be grown mounted or epiphytically, but will not produce as large a plant.

A large robust species with thick, leathery leaves is a rock dweller from central Mexico. Reddish foliage in an open rosette and a showy, tall inflorescence of orange. A choice plant that is easy to grow and can be potted or mounted.

A caulescent, clumping species from Peru with stiff, erect, green leaves at almost right angles to the stem.

The inflorescence consists of a six inch spike of bright red with white flowers. A slow grower and reluctant bloomer but easy to grow under ‘typical’ Tillandsia conditions.

Tillandsia (formerly Vriesea) cereicola has stiff silver-gray leaves and grows in a more or less tight, upright rosette. The infloresences, an overall pink, can be simple or branched.  T. cereicola is stoloniferous and is fond of growing on cacti, hence the name.

This beautiful cliff-dwelling species endemic to Chiapas, Mexico is usually seen as a modest sized plant about 6 to 8 inches across, max, with normally, a simple spike. This clone is a relative giant, at well over 12 inches across and quite heavy and dense, the leaves are rather succulent and the inflorescence inflated. Covered with a thick coat of trichomes, it is silvery or even pinkish with a pink, scruffy inflorescence.

The inflorescence is usually three branched and very fat. Naturally such a large plant would be expected to be a slower grower, and it is. A blooming plant is worth the wait! Easy to grow, mounted, bright and airy, it will give months of color when in bloom. An outstanding and rarely seen selection of this fine species.
