An interesting Mexican lithophytic species from Oaxaca where it lives in very arid conditions on rock outcrops. The leaves are very stiff, almost needle-like, about 18 inches long. The habit is like that of Till. juncea, but the foliage is much more robust. Related to T. rodrigueziana.

This is a giant form of Tillandsia pruinosa from Colombia. It is like the smaller or regular forms except that it is larger and does not color up at anthesis as some forms do. It grows to nearly 12 inches tall with a thick base. It might resemble a slightly more slender Tillandsia seleriana due to its size but is a pruinosa for sure. Up right leaves and a bulbous base, all covered with heavy trichomes. Nice.

A nice form of the somewhat variable Tillandsia funckiana, this clone from near Lagunillas, Merida, Venezuela.  A plant that came to us from the collection of the Marie Selby Botanical gardens with their accession number of SEL 1975-0090.  A silvery plant with nicely upright stems and very slender, silvery leaves that recurve slightly upward.  Not much of a blush at anthesis, but the leaves can tint slightly pink in good light.

Found near Rio Grande, Bolivia, this form seems to have straighter leaves than the typical duratii. The inflorescence is simple but bears many very large purple flowers. The fragrance is strong and a single specimen can perfume an entire garden. Does not root as an adult, so it must be attached with glue or wires to a mount. Best results may come from suspending the plant from a string or wire and hanging it in a bright airy spot.

Easiest of all the fragrant Tillandsias to cultivate.
