A small species of Aechmea discovered in Bahia, Brazil that was named in honor of John Anderson of Corpus Christi who was a great grower and promoter of bromeliads in the genus Aechmea. Only reaching about a foot tall, it has moderately stiff, narrow leaves that taper to a point. The color is green with a silver scurf, and can get a little brownish veneer in strong light. The inflorescence is a cluster of flowers at the top of a simple spike, with yellow ovaries and white petals. An easy to grow but rare plant.
