A cultivar of Ananas, probably of what was formerly known as Ananas lucidus. An upright rosette of 3/4 inch wide leaves, dark burgundy with a lighter center, about two feet tall. The inflorescence blushes bright orange-red and culminated in a red, miniature pineapple.

A decorative pineapple species with brightly variegated but spiny leaves in a full rosette. The variegation is white on deep green, and blushes pink to red in strong light. The fruit, not considered edible, is bright red, and produces a crown and numerous 'slips' at the base.
