A bizarre hybrid by Hummel of an unreported Cryptanthus and Ananas species, a very unlikely cross. The plant has stiff, upright foliage in an open rosette. The leaves are multi-colored with pinks, yellows and greens. The inflorescence looks like that of a pineapple, but does not always develop the fruit or leafy top. Reported originally to never develop the leafy crown, it does however frequently do so. A curiosity but showy enough to be worthy of a space in your collection.
