THIS PLANT IS ON C.I.T.E.S. AND CANNOT BE EXPORTED
An interesting and rather rare species from Madagascar, with a tall and straight trunk bearing rows of sharp but short spines. The foliage is restricted to the top of the plant where it grows in a crown of wide green leaves, resembling a little palm.
Greenish flowers are borne on a cluster of compound branches at the crown. Younger specimens tend to be unbranched but branching does occur with maturity.
