A handsome species that is rare in nature but now fortunately found in cultivation. The name pectinata means ‘comb-like’ and refers to the long, slender spines that line the margins of the narrow, recurving leaves. The spines, which can reach over .25 of an inch long, are soft and ‘harmless’. The color is bronzy-green becoming darker in strong light. This species is native to sandstone outcrops in northern Minas Gerais state of Brazil, an area that has now become heavily cleared for farmland and pastures.
