One of the most desirable and sought Tillandsia species ever. This is the rare clone with the deep-red inflorescence, from the hinterlands of the Darien in Panama. A rather small plant, growing to about six inches across in a somewhat bulbous, greenish-gray open rosette. The inflorescence is a short inflated, disproportionately large, arrowhead-shaped scape of deep red. We collected our original stock of these beauties some years ago on one of our most adventurous trips ever, and have established a nice sized colony. Easily forms clumps.

A hybrid cultivar of Cryptanthus ‘Hapa Haole’ x‘Elaine’ by Australian, David Cross. A full rosette of leaves to about 18 inches across. The leaves are banded with silver over a background color of dark brown to reddish-brown, with slightly wavy margins.
A Jim Irvin hybrid named for a longtime active bromeliad enthusiast of the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society of Fort Myers, Florida, a cultivar of ‘Icecile’ x ‘Black Mystic,’ has 14+ lanceolate leaves forming a medium-large plant 20″ in diameter with a strong oval form, deep forest green in color with banding the entire length and edge to edge with narrow silver bands set widely apart. The undersides have heavy silver scurf.
A species from the southeast coastal jungles in the State of Bahia, Brazil has many long narrow linear-lanceolate leaves forming a loose 16-inch diameter open rosette plant. The leaf axils are rosy-brown red fading to green tips. The leaves have small loosely spaced spines with a widely spaced crisped edge. The offsets start appearing at the base of the plant before flowering and towards the crown during and after flowering.
A lovely species of Deuterocohnia that we obtained some years ago from Bill Baker, which we assume that he collected. Reportedly from Tucuman state of Northern Argentina, in the heart of Deuterocohnia teritory. A medium grower as the genus goes, at about 20 inches across. The leaves are reddish, coated with silvery trichomes and bear the impressions of other leaves on their surface. The marginal spines are quite large and silvery, adding greatly to it’s dramatic appearance. The inflorescence is very tall, branched and bears yellowish flowers. A choice species.

A hybrid of unreported parentage, but a nice one! A fairly large, robust grower to about 15 inches across with a full rosette of broadly triangular leaves that taper to a sharp point. The color is deep burgundy-black and the marginal spines are large and slightly lighter in color. A nice colorful plant that should make a great landscape subject.
This is a selfing of David Bordeaux's hybrid Cat Fight. A selected clone that has wide silver green succulent leaves that are edged with widely spaced green gold spines. The rosettes grow to a average of 8 to 10 inches across.
