This plant is the same cross by Steve Correale; chiapensis x botterii, as ‘Mixtec Treasure’ but is a different clone. Similar in size, it is a fairly large plant to over twelve inches tall with silvery leaves can blush slightly reddish and that taper to fine points forming a graceful vase shaped rosette that spreads at anthesis.
The inflorescence up to seven long branches and is taller than the foliage, with a central branch longer than the others. All branches are slightly secund towards the tips. The color is red on the bottom half of the branches fading to yellow on top. A coat of silver trichomes tones down the colors to pink and yellow, very attractive.

We first got this plant from a friend under formula, before the name ‘Nugget’ was given and registered. This is a cultivar of crocata x duratii by Barry Genn, both species highly fragrant but the hybrid of the two barely so. That said, it’s beautiful!
Our plant originally was quite small and ‘wimpy’ with few leaves and kind of scrawny looking. Under the care of Veronica our Tillandsia grower, it has become a much larger, robust plant with a nicely branching inflorescence and curling, silvery leaves.
The flower color is buttercup yellow, kind of surprising with the normally dominant duratii in the mix, but all better for it. We have found that if kept well fed and in good light and air circulation, the plant is vigorous and will produce offsets. Different and attractive.

A hybrid of (tricolor x flabellata) made many years ago (before 1954) by Walter Richter in Germany and released in the U.S. by Mulford Foster. In spite of its long time in cultivation, it is nonetheless quite uncommon in collections. The cross takes on the best characteristics of both parents with fairly stiff, narrow, green leaves and a well-branched reddish orange inflorescence. Grows equally well potted or mounted. The cross takes on the best characteristics of both parents with fairly stiff, narrow, green leaves and a well-branched reddish orange inflorescence.

A hybrid of T. chiapensis x capitata 'Rubra' (Chiapas) by Pamela Koide-Hyatt that is a good representation of both parents. It has the overall shape of the capitata parent; an upright rosette of arching leaves and an inflorescence that is a cluster of branches forming a tight head, with long, curling scape bracts. The leaves are thick and leathery, like the chiapensis parent, and keep the pinkish-silver coloration. The branches are bright, silvery pink. Plant is 25 cm tall with spike, 35-40 cm diameter. Triangular leaves, to 20 cms. long, are covered with fine dense trichomes. Leaf bases are 3.5-4 cm wide. Short, semi-recessed, slightly-branched pink spathe has purple petals. Differs from hybrid T. 'Coconut Grove' as T. 'Pink Sorbet' is always pink, never red and a different clone/color of the variable species Tillandsia capitata used as pollen parent.

Our expert tillandsia grower spotted this clone mixed in with our very first batch of Tillandsia 'Eric Knobloch' and has been growing it, aside, for years. We finally separated it from the named hybrid and gave it it's own name. This clone of brachycaulos x streptophylla is darker and more purpleand just slightly smaller in size. An open rosette of light green, curling, silvery dusted leaves form a somewhat bulbous base. An inflorescence that has long, dark lavender blushing bracts and a tight cluster of violet branches rises about 5 inches above the foliage. A handsome, easy to grow and prolific plant.
A spectacular, large, red-bracted cultivar of ‘Houston‘ (stricta x recurvifolia) a popular Mark Dimmitt hybrid. A very leafy 8 inch, gray-green rosette, with a large, full inflorescence of bright red bracts and flaring white flowers.
Really Red arrived in bloom with zero breakage. Perfect plants& beautiful color contrast between bloom & leafs.

Jim Irvin’s cultivar of (ionantha v.vanhyningi x caputmedusae ‘Red form’) shows some characteristics of both parents. Overall it is most similar to the caput-medusae parent with a somewhat bulbous base and narrow leaves flaring outward. The leaves are semi-terete but do not contort like caput-medusae often does.
The ionantha v.vanhyningii aspect comes through in the inflorescence which is a short scape of tight branches and rosy red bracts. At anthesis the upper leaves blush reddish and in bright light they can be reddish most of the time.

An attractive hybrid of (ionantha x chiapensis) by John Arden. As with most ionantha hybrids, it shows very strong characteristics of that species. A very leafy open rosette to about 8 or 10 inches tall with a pinkish blush to the scurfy, silvery leaves. The inflorescence is very colorful, a cluster of bright red branches nested deep in the center, with large, tubular, inky-blue flowers. Very pretty and easy to grow. Likes to be on the dry side.

A hybrid of (brachycaulos x schiedeana). Upright to 10 inches, it has rather narrow leaves and an attenuated inflorescence that forms a tightly capitate head. A late-spring bloomer, with rosy-blushing silvery leaves and yellow flowers. This is a very interesting and different-looking plant.

A spectacular cross by Steve Correale of (chiapensis x fasciculata ‘Magnificent’) SC. A good blend of the parents; the basic shape of a fasciculata, but with more ‘substance’ and scurffing, like the chiapensis parent. The inflorescence has the shape of the fasciculata, which is an outstanding form native to northern Panama, but is a bit thicker and dusted with the silver thichomes of chiapensis. When well grown, one of the most spectacular of Tillandsias.
