xHohenmea 'Betsy McCory' is a unusual bigeneric most likely from Chester Skotak. Fairly large and upright, it can reach well over three feet tall. An attractive plant, definitely blending the attributes of both parents. The foliage is stiff, upright, silvery and somewhat banded. The inflorescence is more like that of the Hohenbergia, having many branches, coated with cottony scurf. Great for landscape or a nice patio accent.

A new cross XHohenmea ‘Betsy McRory'

A handsome plant, sturdy and striking in appearance with a red tinged foliage. Hohenbergia used to be Aechmea. Now we have two close genera crossed. The bigeneric result is not surprising and I am impressed with the cross. I just want to see whether its bloom is more like a Hohenbergia or an Aechmea.
