This plant, an assumed hybrid of retroflexa x ensiformis is credited to the late Ervin Wurthman who was a prolific hybridizer noted for his Vriesea crosses. The foliage is nice, coppery colored darkening to deep purple towards the center, in a smallish rosette to about 10 inches or so.
The inflorescence is pendant, curving and recurving somewhat, bright deep red, hanging to well below the pot and is best grown in a hanging pot or basket. A cluster of plants makes an especially attractive display when in bloom.
