This is a magnificent plant! A newly described species from Bahia, Brazil with long, narrow, glabrous green leaves bearing fairly large marginal spines. The center blushes vivid red at anthesis with the color spreading outward to several inches. This form has softer leaves than similar species and is quite large, forming a rosette to over 24 inches across. In strong light will blush overall red. This plant is different than another that we have, also with the same name, that we collected ourselves a few years back. However the other form has not yet been released so at this time there should be no confusion. Formerly Orthophytum roseum.
