This plant has been known for some time possibly, as early as the 1970's, however it was not formally described until 1991 by Elton Leme. It also comes from the state of Epírito Santo, Brazil from the Atlantic rain forest. It looks like a green form of Cryptanthus argyrophyllus, at first discovery it was thought it was a variety or close relative. The plant has the general shape of Cryptanthus argyrophyllus, but is totally green with bright white dense trichomes on the underside of the leaves. The flowers are white, tipped with green, and are fragrant.
