This is a very nice smaller species with a beautiful red-flowered inflorescence that is first erect, and then bends over at the apex. Back in 1989 Wally Berg and I found this interesting novelty in Ecuador where it grows on rocks and cliffs in large colonies in the area of Uzhcurrumi in Azuay Province. When blooming, the cliff faces were ablaze in the red of the inflorescences of this pretty little species.
