Endemic to Madagascar, growing in well drained soil with some water and some sun. The stem can grow from10 to 20 inches in diameter, and the plant can reach a height from six to twenty feet tall. The flowers are white to pale yellow. Grows best in high light.
The genus name from Greek; pachys; 'thick' and Greek podion; 'small foot' for the thick caudiciform trunk, formed by some species. The species is named after the Sofia, a river in the north-western Madagascar.

Jack C. Satisfied with plant. It was a little expensive though. However it is a plant not often seen in collections, so I was happy to get it.
I am still looking for other rare Pachypodium like decaryi & ambongense or an additional Pachypodium enigmaticum or any other rare species.
