THIS PLANT IS ON C.I.T.E.S. AND CANNOT BE EXPORTED
A Madagascan species who’s name literally means ‘densely flowered’. The flowers indeed are produced prolifically in clusters on long stems, and are stunningly yellow. This form brevicalyx, has flowers smaller than the type form and a shortened or more abbreviated calyx, with the flowers perhaps a bit more pure yellow. For a caudex lover, the flowers are just icing on the cake.
This species is one of the most desirable and interesting of the Pachypodiums and a delight for collectors and a must-have for the caudex lover. Its silvery trunk has short spines and becomes almost smooth with maturity as it forms a thick caudex. The branches remain spiny. With maturity the plant adds much girth, many branches and very little height. Our plants come from the type locality of this subspecies.
