We are not entirely certain of the provenance of this little cutie. We obtained our plant at a sale some years ago and did not question the name at that time. The only reference to Orthophytum ‘Pewter’ is for the cultivar of O. sacicola ‘Pewter’. It is certainly quite possible that ours is this plant, though it does not conform to the ‘typical’ look of that species with regards to size, shape and leaf texture.
We should also say that we have not seen this plant bloom yet. So anyway, this plant is a leafy rosette of fairly broad leaves, heavily armed along the margins, semi-stiff and coated with a thick layer of gray trichomes. It is cluster forming on short stolons. Whatever it’s pedigree, it is a nice plant.
