This is Ray Lemieux’s cultivar of lemei x gurkenii the reverse cross of Kiehl’s ‘Stardust’. A handsome plant with broad, recurving leaves that are quite thickly succulent and bear very large marginal spines. The leaves are silver-brown and the entire leaf surface is coated with gold-toned scurf of trichomes.
The inflorescence is quite tall with long, leaf-like scape bracts and many strobilate branches that blush burgundy. The inflorescence much more closely resembles that of the O. lemei parent. Easy to grow in normal terrestrial bromeliad conditions, and it offsets freely.
