A smallish, fairly soft leaved species discovered in 2007 by Elton Leme near Vitoria da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil as a terrestrial in caatinga habitat. Without the inflorescence this plant could be easily be confused with other small, soft Orthophytums, but in bloom it is distinctive. The leaves are light green, with moderate, widely spaced, soft spines, and forming a rosette up to about 6 inches across. The inflorescence is a scape with large leaf-like bracts and many strobilate branches bearing white flowers with pinkish red sepals. A rather show miniature species. Our plants bear the Selby accession number of SEL2007-0352.
