SMALL GROWER
This interesting species of Peru and Ecuador is a cute miniature with broad, spiny, coppery-tinted green leaves, splashed with deep brown, in a compact vase shape. The leaves are spiny and curve downward towards their tips. Long stolons make this an excellent plant for a hanging pot or basket and does great as a mounted epiphyte. Our plants came originally from the Cutucu Mountains in the Amazon side of Ecuador, in the state of Zamora-Chinchipe. A wet grower in nature, often forming colonies of hundreds on the trunks of large jungle trees. On one trip we found a bright red form, but it did not persist in cultivation.
