A cultivar of a hybrid between marmorata x spectabilis made by Julian Nally, probably in the 1950s. Julian Nally was a true bromeliad pioneer who lived near Orlando, Florida and had an old house in the woods, near a lake, surrounded by thousands of bromeliads. Not much variety in those days and he did some crosses with what he had to work with and selected the best to grow on. This plant is a large grower to 24 inches with 2.5 inch wide leaves. A big fat plant with red leaves marbled with yellow-green and ending in a point. Our plant came to us originally from Eloise Beach, who years ago used to work for Mr. Nally from time to time.
