A cute little caudiciform species from Madagascar. In nature it forms an elongate, subterranean tuber/caudex which in cultivation is normally kept elevated above the soil line. The foliage is attractive, large oblong leaves are deep green with pale green to whitish mottled patterns down both sides of the midrib. The leaf undersides are purplish. Flowers are pale tan to pinkish. An easy species to grow that enjoys partial shade and limited watering, especially in winter.
