THIS PLANT IS ON C.I.T.E.S. AND CANNOT BE EXPORTED

A cycad only described in 1997 from the province of Guangxi in southern China. One of only two species having multi-pinnate leaves giving this species an especially full and decorative appearance. Forming a mostly subterranean caudex, the leaves can reach a stunning 12 feet long. A fast grower that quickly reaches an attractive size.

The native habitat is open limestone slopes, bolder strewn, at altitudes of 2500 to 3000 feet. The individual pinnae have up to five blades, each about a half inch wide, with wavy margins and up to 12 inches or so. Cold tolerant to a few degrees below freezing. A superb collector item.

Cycas debaoensis

Nice plant to go with one I got two years ago from Tropiflora. Grows more rapidly for me than say Cycas revoluta. Have not planted in the ground yet (Zone 8) but plan to do so now that I have two of them.
