A sport of Cryptanthus acaulis var. 'Roseus' created through radiation experimentation by Paul DeCoster prior to 1975. This small plant with light grey-green leaf color and bright pink margination with some pink striation in the centers of some of the leaves matures only to about 4-inches in diameter. Two clones were introduced into cultivation one with wide leaves the other with narrow leaves.
