A Cryptanthus species native to the States of Bahia and Espírito Santo in Brazil. This form of Cryptanthus beuckeri is a patternless, solid green form with a maroon stem. It otherwise resembles the typical form, which has mottled leaves. Except mainly being a slower growing large form, this Cryptanthus has larger petiolate leaves that reach a length of 7 to 9-inches giving an overall diameter of 14 to 18-inches.
Note: If you have purchased this plant in the past from us, we have uncovered that this plant actually has the cultivar name 'Robert Read,' named for its discoverer by Warren Loose and that we obtained this plant from an old guard bromeliad enthusiast Betty Patterson, who more than likely bought it from Bob Whitman and Warren Loose at Southern Exposure Nursery back in the day when they were still in business.
